During a recent visit to Gruene, Texas, after a short 5k around town, we stopped by the Adobe Verde for some mexican food and to try their #1 voted margarita in New Braunfels area and of course the others that they offer. Adobe Verde has several different types/flavors of margaritas on their menu, premium and house. Here is a sample of what we tried:
The Patron Rita at $7.25 & on the rocks, if they make all premium ritas the same way don't waste your and money, stick with the house ritas--not much taste difference.
The Sangria (considered a house choice) at $5.75 & frozen, it was light, refreshing, fabulous margarita--wine lovers will love it. The sangria is homemade inhouse and mixed with the regular house frozen margarita. yum.
Regular House frozen (voted #1 in New Braunfels) at $5.75 not overly limey. It is a good house margarita, does not taste like a mix. Has both a crisp sweet & a sour taste but the combo is equal and not overwhelming.
Italian with amaretto (house) is $6.25 frozen and if you like amaretto this is the margarita for you. Not too sweet or bitter. Good change from the ordinary. And my friend Mari, you would love this!
Of course we did have a meal along with the margaritas that we enjoyed as well. This place is usually busy during the warmer times of the year especially during the summer with folks who have just floated the Guadalupe River or with the monthly Gruene Market Days. They do have several tvs for catching sports, an open porch area, indoor & outdoor seating. Don't forget to try the Frog Dip..."the ultimate queso!"
